Mamnik is a 2026 Bulgarian fantasy horror thriller serial film, directed by Viktor Bozhinov from a screenplay by Vladislav Tinchev and Dimitar Hristov – Kevin. The film premiered on BNT 1 in 2025.
„Mamnik“" tells the story of an ancient evil that awakens in a border Bulgarian village - Vrakola. Mysterious murders begin in the village, and some residents wake up with unusual scars resembling the claws of the winged bird Mamnik - a demon from Bulgarian folklore.
The three main characters—an elderly man and two border police officers—embark on an investigation that uncovers hidden secrets, magic, and the ancient legend of Mamnik. When Emil's son disappears, the conflict becomes both personal and supernatural.
This is the first Bulgarian genre series focused on horror and fantasy. It is a production of BNT + "Global Films" + "Falconwing". The series intertwines folklore with modern themes such as pandemic and isolation. The emotional and mystical story is well balanced between the crime and fantasy elements.
„Mamnik“" has the potential to become a significant Bulgarian horror series that combines mysticism, myth and modernity. The production looks promising, and the tension and mystery could attract both fans of folk horror and crime drama.
„Mamnik“" stands out as one of the most anticipated Bulgarian genre series. The combination of ancient legends, evil that comes to life, and the modern crisis (Covid-epidemic) gives it a unique atmosphere. A strong cast and an interesting message - this series can create a new horror universe in the native television space.
