Scotty is a German animation with adventure and family elements from 2025, directed by Mohammad Pirzadi from a screenplay by Mohammad Pirzadi and Ali Valipuri. The world premiere of the production is in 2025, and its Bulgarian premiere is on October 23, 2026.
Scotty is a street cat who is used to relying only on himself and protecting the small place he calls home. After a traumatic childhood experience, he has a hard time trusting people and other animals, until the arrival of his house cat, Katie, disrupts his established way of life. The two are forced to embark on a dangerous journey through the city, which gradually turns their unwanted partnership into a true friendship.
Mohammad Pirzadi turns the story into an adventure that uses the world of cats to talk about loss, fear, and the need to belong. The work on Scotty The production took six years, with more than 300 concept artists, designers, animators, and computer graphics specialists from different countries participating in the creation of the production. An interesting detail is that the studio team worked near an animal shelter to observe the behavior and movements of real cats.
In the original English version, the voices are entrusted to Dario Coates, Phil Cornwell, Adam Diggle, Wallis Hammond, William Hope, Joe Jameson, Stuart Milligan, George Naylor, Jessica Before, Jay Rincon, Lizzie Wofford and Penelope Rollins. Among the more familiar names are Hope, known for numerous voice and screen roles, and Milligan, who has a long career in film and television. In Bulgarian cinemas, the production is also scheduled to be dubbed in Bulgarian.
Scotty focuses less on the adventure itself than on the transformation of a character who has learned to survive alone and gradually must understand that trust is not a weakness. Scotty and Katie's journey turns the theme of home into something more than a specific place - it turns out to be connected to the people and friends with whom one chooses to share one's life. This gives the animation a more emotional layer that complements the classic adventure story.
For viewers looking for family-friendly movies with animals and a message about friendship, Scotty offers a relatively traditional but endearing story. Behind the adventures of the two feline characters is a story about overcoming fear, embracing change, and discovering a new sense of home. It is this combination of adventure and emotional storytelling that is the foundation on which the production relies to attract a younger audience.
