Jumbo: The Magical Adventure is an Indonesian animated adventure, fantasy, and comedy film set in 2025, directed by Ryan Adriandhi from a screenplay by himself and Widya Arifianti. It premiered in Indonesia on 31 March 2025.

Don is a boy who is often underestimated by his peers because of his large build. He dreams of performing in a local show with a play inspired by the fairy tale book left behind by his late parents, but bullying and the theft of the book by a classmate threaten to derail his plans. While trying to get it back, Don meets Mary, a little girl from the spirit world who needs help to reunite with her parents. The two embark on an adventure in which they gradually learn the importance of friendship, courage, and self-confidence.

Ryan Adriandhi transforms the story into a colorful and accessible adventure that combines a fantasy world with deeply human issues such as loneliness, ridicule, and the desire to be accepted. This is the director's feature film debut, having previously worked as an animator, illustrator, and creator of animated projects. Jumbo: The Magical Adventure was created entirely by Indonesian artists and animators, with more than 400 local professionals involved in the production. The film gradually became a major success for Indonesian animation and was presented as the first Indonesian animation production to be distributed in so many international markets.

The vocal ensemble is led by Prince Putrarai like Don and Queen Salman like Mary, who give the two main characters the necessary childlike immediacy. Yusuf Ozkan and Graciela Abigail complete Don's group of friends, and M. Adhiyat builds the voice of Ata, the boy who constantly underestimates him. Smaller roles are played by popular Indonesian artists such as Bunga Chitra Lestari, Ariel Noah, Ratna Riantiarno, Cinta Laura Keel and Angga Yunanda. It is the combination of young voices and well-known Indonesian names that helps the characters maintain their emotional credibility.

Jumbo: The Magical Adventure is an animation that uses a classic adventure to tell a more personal story about a child who must believe in his own abilities. A fantastical encounter with Mary expands Don's world, but the main conflict remains related to his desire to be accepted and respected by others. This allows the production to be suitable for both younger audiences and older viewers who can recognize the more serious themes behind the fairy tale.

The success of Jumbo: The Magical Adventure It also shows that Indonesian animation is gradually finding its own place outside the local market. The film combines adventure, fantasy and comedy without losing its focus on friendship and family. For viewers looking for a different kind of animation movies outside the major American studios, Jumbo: The Magical Adventure is a curious proposal with a clearly expressed local identity and a universal history.
