Earth Abides is a 2024 American drama fantasy series film created by Todd Komarnicki. The film premiered on movie platforms on December 1, 2024.

The story begins with Isherwood "Ish" Williams (Alexander Ludwig), a young geographer who is bitten by a rattlesnake while researching in the Sierra Nevada. While recovering in an isolated cabin, he falls ill with a mysterious measles-like illness and falls unconscious. Upon awakening, Ish discovers that the world has been ravaged by a deadly pandemic that has wiped out most of humanity.

In search of survivors, Ish returns to his hometown of Berkeley, California, where he meets Emma (Jessica Frances Dukes), with which they begin to build a new life. Over time, other survivors join them, forming a new community. Ish seeks to restore the foundations of civilization by teaching the young people reading, writing, and mathematics. Despite his efforts, the new generation is more interested in practical skills and adapting to the new world.

As time progresses, Ish realizes that the old world will not return and that a new civilization will develop on its own paths. He passes his symbolic hammer to his great-grandson Jack, recognizing that the future belongs to the young and their new beliefs and practices.
