Shaft (Shaft) is a 2019 American crime action film directed by Tim Story from a screenplay by Kenya Barris and Alex Barnow. The film premiered in the United States on June 14, 2019.
J.J., also known as John Shaft Jr. (John Shaft Jr.), is an MIT-educated cybersecurity expert who needs the "education" that only his father can give him in order to uncover the truth behind his best friend's untimely death. Absent during J.J.'s youth, the legendary John Shaft (Samuel L Jackson) agrees to help his successor "move" through heroin-soaked Harlem.
JJ's FBI analyst badge may clash with his father's trademark leather coat, but that won't interfere with family ties. Besides, Shaft has his own way of doing things and a duty to fulfill that is both professional and personal.
