Man of Tomorrow (2027)
Rights holder / Distributor: Warner Bros. Pictures / DC Studios
Man of Tomorrow is a 2027 American superhero action film directed and written by James Gunn. It is scheduled for release in the United States on July 9, 2027. The production continues the story from Superman (2025) and is part of the new DC film universe.
The story finds Superman and his longtime nemesis Lex Luthor in an unusual situation where they must work together. The reason is the emergence of Brainiac - an extremely dangerous alien enemy whose threat goes beyond their usual conflicts. Forced to join forces, the heroes will have to overcome their mutual distrust if they are to deal with their common enemy.
James Gunn returns as director and writer, having previously directed his own version of Superman in the year 2025. This time, the story focuses not only on superhero clashes but also on the complex relationships between two characters who are usually on opposite sides. The inclusion of Brainiac expands the scope of the conflict and shifts the focus to an alien threat.
David Korensweet returns as Superman, and Nicholas Hoult reprises the role of Lex Luthor. The interaction between the two will be one of the main elements of the film, as the characters must find a way to cooperate despite their long-standing feud. Lars Eidinger will play Brainiac, and Rachel Brosnahan returns as Lois Lane. The cast also includes Millie Allcock, Nathan Fillion, Aaron Pierre, Eddie Gathegi and Xolo Maridueña.
Man of Tomorrow continues the development of the revamped DC Universe and brings together familiar characters around a conflict that requires unusual alliances. The film offers an opportunity to delve deeper into the relationship between Superman and Lex Luthor, while also introducing one of the most recognizable alien adversaries in the Man of Steel stories. For superhero fans, the production is the next big step in the story of the new Superman, although the final assessment will depend on how the characters and the central conflict are developed.
