Leave the World Behind (2023)
Leave the World Behind (literal translation: Leave the world behind) is a 2023 American mystery thriller film directed by Sam Ismail from a screenplay by Ruman Alam and Sam Ismail. The film is set to be released in the United States on October 25, 2023.
Amanda's Vacation (Julia Roberts) and Clay (Ethan Hawke) with their teenage children is interrupted by the arrival of a middle-aged man and his daughter, who own the vacation home and have escaped an unprecedented power outage in the city. When the internet, television, radio, and landline phones go down, they have no way to get information from anywhere.
As strange sonic booms shatter the peace of the countryside and animals begin to migrate in strange ways, the physical and mental health of the families begins to crumble. The tenants are upper-class whites and the owners are black and also wealthy. Race issues collide and become entangled, distracting the families from the more disturbing things happening all around them.
