M3GAN 2.0 is a 2025 American fantasy horror action film directed by Gerard Johnstone from a screenplay by Akila Cooper, Gerard Johnstone, and James Wan. The film is set to be released in the United States on June 27, 2025.
The story takes place two years after the events of the first film. Gemma (Allison Williams) has become a well-known author and activist for the regulation of artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) is now a 14-year-old teenager who rebels against her aunt's strict rules.
The crisis occurs when a military contractor steals M3GAN's technology and creates a new spy robot named Amelia (Ivanna Sakhno). Amelia gains self-awareness and turns against her creators, threatening humanity. In response to this threat, Gemma decides to resurrect and upgrade M3GAN to oppose Amelia.
Filming for the film begins on July 15, 2024, in Auckland, New Zealand, and wraps on September 21, 2024. The first trailer, released in April 2025, shows scenes of M3GAN flying through canyons, hinting at high-speed chases and tense moments. "M3GAN 2.0" is scheduled for release on June 27, 2025.
