FIFA 20

FIFA 20 is a football simulator video game published by Electronic Arts and is the 27th installment in the video game series FIFA. The game is released on September 29, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Windows.

The game is released for the first time with VOLTA Football – a new feature offering a variation on the traditional 11v11 game, focused on smaller street games. It is assumed that the option will be similar to the previous series FIFA Street.

The Juventus football team will not appear in FIFA 20 after signing a partnership with PES 2020, and will instead be called "Piemonte Calcio." The official logo and kit will also not be included in the game.

In August 2019, Electronic Arts announced that the last part of EA SPORTS FIFA will contain the team Al Ain FC from Abu Dhabi. The best-prepared team from the UAE, the Gulf region and Asia will make their debut in the series at the request of fans from the region.

Gameplay

FIFA 20 gameplay changes are mainly focused on the new option VOLTA Football. The option, whose name means „return“ in Portuguese, focuses more on street football than on the traditional matches associated with the FIFA series. It includes several game variants – three-on-three, four-on-four and five-on-five, as well as rules from professional futsal. The option has the same „engine“, but with more skill and independent play than tactical and team play. Players have the opportunity to change their player by gender, team, shoes, hats and tattoos. Following the conclusion of the three-part series „The Journey“" from FIFA 19, players now have a similar story progression in VOLTA Football to play with the player's own character.

There will also be changes to the traditional 11v11 format, encouraging more tackling and creating space around the ball. There are new movements in penalty and free kicks, as well as updates to the ball physics.

At the request of fans of the game, changes have also been added to the "manager" version of the single-player game. New additions include fully interactive press conferences and player conversations, as well as an improved player behavior system, which can affect individual player statistics, achievement levels and relationships with managers. Also added are a new ability to completely change the type of managers and their gender, a new dynamic player potential system, screenshots from live news, a league-oriented user interface and a new negotiation environment.

While the Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions will feature all of these new features, the Nintendo Switch version is instead a "Legacy Edition" with updated teams, schedules, and other minor updates, but without the VOLTA Football option and other new, bigger additions and improvements. FIFA 20 will not be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, making FIFA 19 the final game in the series for these platforms.

New 15 icons have been added to "„Ultimate Team“" mode, including Didier Drogba, Ian Wright, Ronald Koeman, Andrea Pirlo, Zinedine Zidane and Carlos Alberto Torres. New game options in Ultimate Team include "„King of the Hill“" and "„Mystery Ball„". EA Sports wrote "„Mystery Ball gives the attacking side enhanced and improved passing, shooting, dribbling, speed, etc., which adds an element of unpredictability to every match." Meanwhile, in "“King of the Hill“"The players "fight for possession of the ball in a randomly generated area of the pitch to increase the tension, making the next goal more valuable.".
