Dune: Awakening (2025)

Dune: Awakening from Funcom is an ambitious survival MMO that immerses the player in the harsh beauty and dangers of the planet Arrakis. Starting as “The Sleeper” – a nameless figure stranded in the desert with minimal equipment – the game gradually develops a multiplayer world where survival involves gathering resources, forming alliances, political intrigue and epic battles for control of the precious Spice – the defining element of the game.

Plot

Set in an alternate timeline where Paul Atreides was not born, Arrakis is embroiled in a civil war between House Atreides and House Harkonnen, while the Fremen have mysteriously disappeared. The player takes on the role of a secret agent working for the Bene Gesserit, who must find the Fremen and "awaken the Sleeper".

Release date and platforms

PC (Steam) – official launch on June 10, 2025 (with early access for Deluxe/Ultimate versions from June 5).

PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S – scheduled for 2026 (exact dates not yet announced).

There is no atypical monthly subscription - you only pay for the game, followed by free updates and paid DLC.

Gameplay and mechanics

Desert survival – attention to water, protection from sand, temperature, and sandworm attacks.

Construction and strategy – building a base, garrisons, their barricades and ornithopters (flying machines).

Combat system – combined weapons (melee, ranged), vehicles and special skills, including the use of spice powers.

Faction Relations – opportunities to ally with House Atreides or Harkonnen and get involved in the political plot.

PvP and PvE zones – public servers separated between PvE and PvP zones (Deep Desert with PvP zone and regular storms).

Character evolution – from survival to guild leader through four phases: Survive, Protect, Expand, Control.

Technologies and optimizations – support for NVIDIA DLSS 4, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS for higher performance and picture quality.
