Special Corps: Unknown Heroes (Rogue Heroes) is a 2022 British military drama television series created by Stephen Knight ("„Peaky Blinders“"), based on the book „"SAS: Rogue Heroes"“ by Ben McIntyre. The film premieres on BBC One on October 30, 2022.
The series is set in 1941 in North Africa, when British troops are in dire straits against the German forces of General Erwin Rommel. Young and rebellious officer David Stirling, who has been wounded in action, becomes disillusioned with traditional military tactics. Inspired by the idea of smaller, more mobile and daring strike groups, he proposes a plan to form an elite military unit to carry out daring raids behind enemy lines.
After many obstacles and bureaucratic resistance, Sterling manages to convince the command to give him a chance. He assembles a team of soldiers who are known for their rebellious spirit, but also for their exceptional fighting skills. Among them are Lieutenant Jocko Whelan, Paddy Main - a cruel and fearless warrior, as well as a number of other unconventional heroes.
The group trains in harsh desert conditions and soon begins to carry out missions, attacking German airfields, destroying aircraft and sabotaging enemy communications. Despite their successes, the SAS members must deal not only with their enemies, but also with internal conflicts, doubts and betrayals.
„"Rogue Heroes" has been met with positive reviews from critics and viewers, who praised its authentic style, dynamic action, and charismatic characters. The series is particularly popular among fans of military dramas and historical productions.
Following the success of the first season, the BBC has confirmed that there will be a second season, which will continue the story of the SAS during the war.
