One Night in Idaho: The College Murders is a four-part documentary series based on the book The Idaho Four: An American Tragedy by James Patterson and Vicki Ward. The series focuses on the horrific assassination attempt committed on the night of November 13, 2022, against four University of Idaho students – Ethan Chapin, Zaxana Kernell, Madison Mogen, and Kaylee Goncalves.
The series follows the tragic events, the subsequent pursuit of suspect Brian Kochberger, and the emotional reactions of survivors, loved ones, and the local community. The various episodes interweave 911 call recordings, police investigations, social media reactions, and analysis of DNA evidence tracing the suspect's presence in Moskov, Idaho.
The film presents a well-structured and breathless documentary emotion that delves deep into the human drama, family tragedy and public repercussions of a shocking investigation. With a strong journalistic foundation, the series is both intriguing and tender, but also raises important questions about the boundaries between truth and justice.
