Wardriver (2026)

Wardriver is a 2026 American thriller film directed by Rebecca Thomas from a screenplay by Daniel Casey. The film is set to be released in the United States on March 20, 2026.

In the era of digital crime and hacker attacks, cinema is increasingly turning to themes that sound frighteningly realistic. Wardriver is a tense crime thriller that combines a high-tech world with a classic story of morality, guilt, and redemption. Directed by Rebecca Thomas, the film offers a tight and intense experience without getting lost in unnecessary spectacle.

The story follows Cole, a young hacker who practices "wardriving" - hacking into other people's networks directly from his car while driving around the city. For him, it's almost a game: he steals from corporations and banks, convinced that no one really suffers from his actions.

This illusion is shattered when he comes into the sights of a dangerous black market player, Oscar, who forces him to participate in a large-scale cyber heist. The task turns out to be much more complicated than it seems - at its center is Sarah, a woman whose life is entangled in a web of financial manipulation and criminal interests. As the tension escalates, Cole must decide whether to remain part of the system he has always used, or to stand up to it.

The film gradually transitions from a technological thriller to a classic game of cat and mouse, where every action has real and dangerous consequences.

Rebecca Thomas approaches the material with a moderate realism. Rather than relying on overly stylized visual effects, she builds tension through atmosphere and pace. The film is compact and tight, without unnecessary digressions, with each scene having a clear role in the development of the story. What is particularly impressive is how the digital world is presented — not as an abstract visual environment, but as something cold, real and threatening.

Dane DeHaan – as Cole. His performance is restrained and internally tense, perfectly suited to a character who lives between two worlds — the real and the digital.
Sasha Kaye – as Sarah. She brings emotional depth and a human element to the otherwise cold technological environment.
Mamoudou Ati – as Oscar. A charismatic and menacing antagonist who dominates the scenes in which he appears.
Jeffrey Donovan – as Bilson. She portrays the cold-blooded side of the criminal world with convincing rigor.

Wardriver doesn't try to be revolutionary, but it's extremely effective at what it does. It's a tense, well-structured thriller that raises moral questions in a world where the lines between crime and "game" are blurred. The film will appeal to fans of modern crime stories with a technological element - especially those who prefer realism to spectacle. Short, concise and provocative enough to leave a mark.
