Team America: World Police (Team America: World Police() is a 2004 German-American action comedy film directed by Trey Parker from a screenplay by Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and Pam Brady. The film was released in the United States on October 15, 2004.
The movie "„Squad America: World Police“", created by the authors of the animated series South Park, was filmed entirely with puppets in the style of classic 1960s television productions, simultaneously parodying Hollywood action, American foreign policy, and celebrity culture. The film sparked serious discussions upon its premiere due to its provocative humor, but subsequently established itself as one of the most iconic comedies of the 21st century.
Squad America is a secret international organization that fights terrorism around the world. Although its members have noble intentions, their actions often lead to enormous destruction and unexpected consequences. After a dangerous mission, the leaders of the organization decide to recruit Broadway actor Gary Johnston. Thanks to his acting skills, he must go undercover in a terrorist network and help prevent a global catastrophe.
The investigation leads Gary and his allies to a massive conspiracy orchestrated by North Korean leader Kim Jong-il. Meanwhile, a group of Hollywood celebrities try to thwart Squad America, convinced that the organization is causing more harm than good. As the world faces a serious threat, the heroes embark on a series of absurd adventures, spectacular battles and endlessly ridiculous situations.
Trey Parker uses the unconventional puppet technique not only as a visual trick, but as a major source of comedy. The film deliberately emphasizes the limitations of the puppets, which makes the action even more fun. The direction parodies almost every possible action cliché - from dramatic speeches and patriotic monologues to large-scale destruction and heroic rescue operations. At the same time, the film ridicules political extremes from different sides of the social spectrum. The combination of crude humor, musical numbers and merciless satire turns the production into something completely different from traditional comedies.
Although only puppets are visible on screen, the voice acting plays a key role in the film's success.
Trey Parker voices Gary Johnston, Joe, Kim Jong-il and a number of other characters, demonstrating an impressive range of comedic voices.
Matt Stone He also appeared as Chris, as well as voicing numerous supporting characters. Other notable voices include: Kristen Miller, Massasa Moyo, Darren Norris, Phil Hendry and Maurice Lamarche.
Particularly memorable are the parodies of real celebrities, represented through caricature puppets and exaggerated images.
„Squad America: World Police“" is a bold and uncompromising satire that is not afraid to poke fun at politics, cinema, celebrities and social stereotypes. Although its humor is extremely provocative and often vulgar, the film impresses with its wit and courage. Two decades after its premiere, the production continues to be among the most quoted and beloved satirical comedies, and many of its scenes and songs have become cult moments for fans of the genre.
