Trail of Vengeance is a 2025 American Western film directed by Johnny Remo from a screenplay by Daniel Beckman and Johnny Remo. The film is set to be released in the United States on May 23, 2025.
The plot takes place in 1875 and follows the story of Catherine Atherton (Rumer Willis), a young widow whose husband, Caleb (Jeremy Sumpter), is murdered under mysterious circumstances. Determined to discover the truth and exact revenge, Catherine turns to John Scobell (Gbenga Akinnagbe), a former agent of the Pinkerton Agency and an old friend of Caleb.
Scobell, known as Pinkerton's first black agent, carries with him a dark past and personal demons. Despite their differences, the two join forces to uncover a web of corruption leading to Colonel Davis (Jeff Fahey), an influential and unscrupulous military man implicated in Caleb's death. Along the way, Catherine and Scobell encounter Hoko (Graham Greene), a wise old man with deep knowledge of local customs and the history of the region, who provides them with valuable information and support.
The film explores themes of justice, racial and gender bias, and the strength of the human spirit. Catherine confronts the challenges of her time, proving that a woman can be not only a mother and wife, but also a fighter for justice. Her alliance with Scobel highlights the possibility of overcoming social barriers through common purpose and mutual respect.
„Trail of Vengeance“ features an authentic Wild West atmosphere, shot with attention to detail, and strong performances that give depth to the characters. The film is both an homage to classic Westerns and a contemporary take on themes of revenge and redemption.
