The sun is also a star (The Sun Is Also a Star) is a 2019 American romantic comedy film directed by Ry Russo-Young from a screenplay by Tracy Oliver and Nicola Yoon. The film premiered in Bulgaria on May 17, 2019.
Natasha (Yara Shahidi) is a girl who believes in science and facts. Not in fate, destiny, and dreams. She's not the kind of girl who meets cute guys in crowded New York and falls in love. Not when her family is 12 hours away from deportation. Falling in love with him won't be her story.
Daniel (Charles Melton) has always been a good son and a good student, who has always lived up to his parents' high expectations. He is not a poet or a dreamer. But when he sees her, he forgets all that. Something about Natasha makes him think that fate has something extraordinary in store for them both. Every moment has been leading them to this present. Millions of future possibilities lie before them. But which one will happen?
