The goldfinch (The Goldfinch) is a 2019 American film directed by John Crowley from a screenplay by Peter Strahan and Donna Tartt (novel). The film premiered in Bulgaria on September 13, 2019.
Theodore Decker (Ansel Elgort) is just 13 years old when his mother is killed in a terrorist attack at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The tragedy changes the course of his life, sending him on a thrilling odyssey of grief and guilt, rediscovery and redemption, and even love.
Despite all this, he clings to one tangible piece of hope left to him from that day – a priceless work of art, a painting of a tied little bird that he stole from the gallery in his confusion on the day of the tragedy. The painting is called „The Goldfinch“ and was painted by Karel Fabricius, a student of Rembrandt.
„"„The goldfinch“" is a film adaptation of Donna Tartt's globally acclaimed bestseller of the same name, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 2014 and spent more than 30 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.
