Sunray: Fallen Soldier (2024)

Sunray: Fallen Soldier is a 2024 British action film directed by James Clarke and Daniel Shepherd from a screenplay by James Clarke, Sam Seeley and Daniel Shepherd. The film is set for a UK release on 24 January 2025.

Former military veteran Andy (Cullen type) loses his only daughter to a drug overdose. Resilient and filled with anger, he unites former friends and colleagues to find and punish all those involved in her death. The tragedy unleashes violence, as well as a reminder of the dark side of service and the effects of PTSD.

The action scenes – gunfights, SUV shootouts and improvised tools (if necessary – HP photo, wire and hammer) – are surprisingly well executed despite the limited budget. The finale returns to the classic image of a man pursuing revenge, but gets lost in clichés and an unconvincing plot twist.

Despite the spectacular scenes, the film has been criticized for its drama and a frustrating delay in the second act. Genre fans have praised it: it's an authentic approach, the work of veterans, and despite the weak script framework, the combat tactics remain impressive.

„Sunray: Fallen Soldier“" is a gritty, low-budget revenge action film, underpinned by the authenticity of military experience, but most viewers and critics emphasize that clichés and plot weaknesses ruin the potential. If you're looking for realistic action with military choreography and a dark emotional foundation - this might interest you.
