Street Fighter (2026)

Street Fighter (literal translation: Street fighter) is a 2026 American action film directed by Kitao Sakurai from a screenplay by Dalan Monson. The film is set to be released in the United States on October 16, 2026.

„"„Street Fighter“" is a new live-action adaptation of Capcom's iconic video game. Following previous film attempts in 1994 and 2009, this remake aims to return to the game's roots. Street Fighter II — with serious fight scenes, colorful characters, and a global tournament in which fighters face not only each other, but also dark secrets.

The story is set in 1993 and follows two estranged fighters—Ryu and Ken—who are drawn back into the fighting world when Chun-Li convinces them to participate in World Warrior Tournament, a global competition that turns out to be a cover for a more dangerous plot. As the tournament progresses, the participants must confront both their opponents and their own inner demons.

Kitao Sakurai brings to the project a background in action and fast-paced television productions, which shines through in the dynamic visuals and fight scenes. The film promises to capture the spirit of the games, from detailed visual stylization to larger, epic battles that pay homage to the source material.

There are still some question marks over how the tone will be balanced between a serious action movie and a fun, nostalgic adaptation, but early footage suggests the team is aiming for a more spectacular, stylish approach.

The cast is large and diverse — from experienced actors like Jason Momoa and David Dastmalchian to newer faces and even names from sports and music like „50 Cent“" and Alexander Volkanovski, which can bring mixed dynamics to the screen.

Since the film is based on a series with vivid characters, the actors' ability to embody these roles with believability and charisma will be a key factor in its success — especially when it comes to fight scenes and characters with high expectations from fans.

„"„Street Fighter“" is a promising attempt to revive the classic fighting franchise on the big screen — with an ambitious cast, stylish fight scenes, and a nostalgic storyline that appeals to both fans of the original games and a wider audience.

Whether this will be an epic cinematic champion or just another adaptation depends on how the direction and actors manage to balance the spectacular combat with the emotional core of the story.

For fans of action movies and classic video games — this is one of the most anticipated titles of 2026!
