It is the first television film and the fourteenth film overall in the Star Trek franchise, part of the expanded universe created by Alex Kurtzman. The film is a spin-off of the series "„Star Trek: Discovery“" and focuses on the character Philippa Georgiou, played by Michelle Yeoh, a former empress of the Terran Empire who is now an agent of Section 31 - a secret division of Starfleet responsible for protecting the United Federation of Planets.
