Disappointed with the intelligence community, the top official Edward Snowden (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) leaves his job at the National Security Agency. He knows that a virtual „mountain“ of data has been created to track every form of electronic communication – not only of foreign governments and terrorist groups, but also of ordinary American citizens. When Snowden decides to release the classified information, he becomes a traitor to some, a hero to others, and a fugitive from the law.
