Off the Grid is a 2025 American action film directed by Johnny Martin from a screenplay by Jim Agnew. The film is set to be released in the United States on June 27, 2025.
The film tells the story of the scientist Guy (Josh Duhamel), who is developing a revolutionary but potentially dangerous technology. Rather than allow it to be weaponized, he chooses to hide „off-grid.“ But his former employer isn’t giving up so easily and sends a team to capture him—and then their plans backfire.
The experiences are in the spirit of Rambo – escape, hidden traps, forest chases and improvised warfare. Cinema Crazed notes that the film „wastes no time and throws us straight into the suspense with a sharp and energetic pace.“ Instead of pure action, however, the emphasis here falls on the hero’s intellect – he uses his knowledge not only to defend, but also to counterattack.
Off the Grid is a solid action film with an intellectual edge: fast-paced, skillfully directed, and filled with aggressive intelligence. It's not a revolution in the genre, but it offers a pleasant and dynamic cinematic experience, suitable for both dinner with company and alone. The hero is naive not just for survival, but for salvation - and for that he deserves our sympathy.
