Minions and Monsters (2026)

Minions and monsters (Minions & Monsters) is a 2026 American animated adventure comedy fantasy film directed by Pierre Coffin from a screenplay by Pierre Coffin and Brian Lynch. The film is set to be released in the United States on July 1, 2026.

Minions and monsters is the latest animated adventure comedy from the Universal franchise universe „"„I, the damned one„"„, in which the cheerful, yellow characters return to the big screen with a new, unusual adventure. It is the seventh film in the series and the third standalone project focusing on the Minions, created by Illumination and Universal Pictures. Pierre Coffin — director of the first „"I, the cursed one"“ films and the original Minions — returns to helm the project, also voicing the beloved yellow characters. The script was co-written with Brian Lynch, bringing the franchise's traditional blend of slapstick humor, heart, and visual gags.

The plot takes us to 1920s Hollywood, where a group of Minions are trying to become movie stars by creating their own monster movie – but in their chaos they accidentally unleash real monsters on the world. This turns their original plans for fame into a world-wide adventure filled with anarchic situations and comical twists. The story promises to combine cinematic meta-references with fantasy and a spirit of adventure as the Minions try to right their own wrongs.

Director Coffin is a key figure in the film's style and tone—his experience with original animation is reflected in the fast-paced pace, visual humor, and attention to detail that characterize the series. The Minion energy is combined with a fondness for the golden age of cinema, making this film not just a children's animation, but a family title with references to classic genres.

As a sequel to one of the most successful animated series in cinema history, Minions and monsters promises laughter, visual imagination, and new adventures that will delight both children and adult fans of the franchise.
