Infirmary is a 2026 American horror film directed by Nicolas Pineda from a screenplay by Katie Crowland. It premiered in the United States on January 16, 2026, at the Dances With Films festival.
The story follows Edward, who starts working as a night guard in an abandoned psychiatric hospital. Together with his colleague Lester, he must monitor the deserted corridors and rooms, but soon inexplicable things begin to happen. When a menacing intruder appears, a suspicious administrator and medical mannequins that seem to disappear on their own, a simple shift becomes a fight for survival.
Director Nicolas Pineda uses the found footage approach, presenting the events through the security guard's camera. This approach limits the point of view and enhances the feeling that the viewer is observing real evidence of something horrific. The abandoned hospital is a suitable setting for such a narrative, and the empty rooms and labyrinth of corridors create a constant sense of uncertainty. Infirmary is Pineda's full-length debut and sticks to the familiar conventions of the subgenre rather than trying to reinvent the formula.
Paul Sayer Lee builds the image of Edward, and Mark Anthony Williams is Lester – his colleague, who also finds himself involved in the strange events. Daniel Kennedy appears as Mrs. Downey, and Corinna Wagner-Smith complements the small cast. The story relies primarily on the characters' reactions to what is happening and the feeling that none of them have all the information.
Infirmary is aimed at fans of horror with found footage, abandoned buildings and mysteries that are revealed gradually. The hospital setting and limited point of view create tension, although the film uses familiar genre solutions. For viewers who like stories in the spirit of Grave Encounters, this is another dark journey into a place where the visible may turn out to be the least of the problems.
