Headshot (2016)

Headshot is a 2016 Indonesian action thriller film directed by Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjajanto from a screenplay by Timo Tjajanto. The film premiered in Indonesia on 8 December 2016.

The film was inspired by the success of "„The Raid“" and carries the same spirit of brutal physicality, real combat and explosive energy, but with a more personal story. The main role is entrusted to Iko Yuvais - an actor, stuntman and master of the martial art of pencak silat, whose movements are almost a choreography of destruction.

The story begins with a young man who wakes up in a hospital with no memories. Doctor Aileen (played by Chelsea Islan) christens him Ishmael, unaware of his true identity. Soon, however, his past catches up with him—when mercenaries attack the hospital, it becomes clear that Ishmael was part of a criminal organization led by the ruthless Lee (Sunny PangAfter Aileen is kidnapped, Ishmael sets out on the trail of his former allies to rescue her and find out who he really is.

The film becomes a journey through hell, in which every fight is a memory and every wound is a part of a lost identity.

„Headshot“" is filmed with an aesthetic of raw realism — the camera is close to the characters, the movements are fast, the blows are real, and the editing is ruthlessly dynamic. The film does not rely on computer effects, but on human strength and skill — this is cinema that "hurts" but also impresses with its mastery. Each fight is filmed as a standalone spectacle: fast, brutal, and unadorned, with a sense of constant danger.

„Headshot“" is an uncompromising, physically and visually stunning action film that proves that Indonesia is the new force in the genre. Kimo Stamboel and Timo Tjajanto create a world where bullets are confessions and punches are a way to remember who you are. The film is not for everyone - the brutality is raw, the blood is real, but underneath it pulses a heartfelt human story of guilt, love and choice.

„Headshot“" is not just an action movie — it's an odyssey of consciousness, told with fists and knives.
