Good Will Hunting (Good Will Hunting) is a 1997 American film directed by Gus Van Sant from a screenplay by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. The film was released on December 2, 1997.
A young janitor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology named Will Hunting (Matt Damon) has a gift for chemistry and math that could propel him light years away from his difficult childhood and his arrests for aggressive behavior. But he doesn't realize his potential and can't even imagine leaving his Boston neighborhood, his job as a construction worker, and his best friend (Ben Affleck).
However, things get more complicated when a few more strangers enter the "equation": a brilliant mathematics professor (Stellan Skarsgård), who discovers and even envies the gift of Will, an empathetic psychiatrist (Robin Williams), who identifies problems from Will's past and a beautiful, young medical student (Mini Driver), which shows him for the first time the possibilities of love.
