A boy named Boat (A Boy Called Sailboat) is a 2018 American-Australian film directed by Cameron Nugent from a screenplay by Cameron Nugent. The film was released in the United Kingdom on 6 May 2019.
In a home beyond the outskirts of a city where drought has been raging for a long time, a Spanish family receives an incredible blessing and names their only son Sailboat. The boy brings new hope and love to the family, who lead a simple but dignified life in the deep American Southwest. One afternoon, the son brings home something with him - a "little guitar.".
From that moment on, Sailboat and his ukulele become inseparable, and when his terminally ill grandmother commissions him to write her a song, he overcomes many obstacles to give her the greatest song ever written. Will the song work a miracle, or will an unfortunate twist of fate send the family back to a house propped up by a stick and a car with no doors, a uniform wardrobe, and a friend who can't blink?
