At any cost (Hell or High Water) is a 2016 American film directed by David McKenzie from a screenplay by Taylor Sheridan. The film was released in the United States on August 12, 2016.
In West Texas, divorced father Toby Howard (Chris Pine) and his brother Tanner (Ben Foster), an ex-con, rob two bank branches. They plan to carry out several small bank robberies in the coming days. Although the robberies are well-planned, Tanner's wild nature leads him to take unnecessary risks, much to Toby's dismay.
It turns out that their mother has recently died, leaving them a ranch with mortgage debts that must be paid off in the coming days or the property will be taken away. Toby is determined to pay off his debts and plans to sell the rights to the oil that has recently been discovered on their land, thus providing a good life for his estranged son. Two Texas Rangers, Marcus Hamilton (Jeff Bridges) and Alberto Parker (Gil Birmingham), who are hot on their heels, have no intention of letting the brothers' plan work.
