Doom: The Dark Ages is the latest installment in id Software's legendary series, taking us to a dark, medieval world filled with demons and brutal battles. This time, the game serves as a prequel to the events of Doom (2016), revealing the origin of Doom Slayer and his fight against the forces of hell.

Gameplay and atmosphere
In previous titles in the series, such as Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal (2020), the main emphasis was placed on lightning-fast and acrobatic gameplay. In Doom: The Dark Ages, however, the approach has changed - the combat is more massive, more grounded and requires more strategic thinking. Doom Slayer is presented as an "iron tank" - a fighter that relies on heavy weaponry, expanded hand-to-hand combat capabilities, and a new time-delay mechanic for "„glory kill“"animations, giving better control over the action.
The innovation Shield Saw combines defense, parrying, and attacking into one fluid motion, making every fight more tactical and brutal. Players have a new arsenal of weapons at their disposal, including Skull Crusher – a rifle that shoots bone fragments, as well as classic melee weapons such as a metal gauntlet, mace, and iron mace.
For the first time in the franchise's history, players get to control combat machines and creatures – including a cybernetic dragon and a colossal battle robot.Atlan with a height of a 30-story building, which participate in key moments of the game.
The plot has also been significantly expanded – including more cutscenes and character development that reveal more deeply into the past. Doom Slayer and lay the foundations of the mythology of the universe from a new angle. Doom: The Dark Ages successfully combines a new vision with the series' familiar aggressive identity.
