„Indiana Jones and the Great Circle“" is a first-person action-adventure game developed by MachineGames and issued by Bethesda Softworks.

The game first appeared in December 2024 for Windows and Xbox Series X|S, and a version for PlayStation 5 was released in spring 2025.

With "„The Great Circle“"With a new global mystery and countless artifacts, the game promises to bring back the spirit of classic adventure stories with archaeology, dangers, and mysteries — all with a modern visual and technical package.".

Plot

The action takes place in 1937, in the interval between the events of "„The Raiders of the Lost Ark“" and "„The Last Crusade“". The main character is the legendary archaeologist Indiana Jones, who embarks on a quest to find an ancient power connected to a mysterious network of sanctuaries called The Great Circle.

Throughout the story, Indy travels the world—from the Vatican to the Egyptian pyramids to tropical jungles and sunken temples—on a mission to outrun sinister forces (including Nazi antagonists) and prevent ancient knowledge from being used for catastrophic purposes.

The plot combines elements of a classic Indiana Jones story — expeditions, mysteries, artifacts, betrayals, dangers — with a modern narrative sensibility and gameplay depth.

Gameplay

First-person + adventurous freedom. The base is a first-person perspective, which gives the feeling that you yourself are Indy - perfect for role-playing. You feel the historical and archaeological spirit of the game personally, through the eyes of the character.

A combination of combat, stealth, and puzzles. Indy's tools—whip, pistol, medieval, and artifact weapons—fit together in such a way that combat scenes, bypassing traps, and solving puzzles are equally important. The whip is not just a weapon, but a key tool for moving, climbing, and overcoming obstacles.

An open world with a mix of linear and sandbox areas. There are moments of strict narrative experience, but also free, more open areas - pyramid complexes, jungles, temples - where you can explore, search for artifacts, secrets and side quests.

Puzzles and archaeological mystery. Great attention is paid to riddles, traps, ancient mechanics, and the intention to recreate the feeling of a real archaeological adventure - not just shooting, but thinking, observation, and deduction.

Development

The project is the work of MachineGames — a studio known for modern games in the series "„Wolfenstein“", which shows that developers with experience in fast-paced action can also embark on an adventure adventure.

The game's development spanned several years, with the idea of preserving the spirit of the classic Indiana Jones adventures, but with modern technical means and vision. Indiana Jones' voice and facial expressions were entrusted to a voice actor and actor, which contributes to the authenticity of the experience.

The release was done in stages: starting for PC and Xbox in 2024, and the PS5 version in 2025. After the release, the game received DLC - the story The Order of Giants, which adds new locations, mysteries, and additional content.

Conclusion

„Indiana Jones and the Great Circle“" manages to become a worthy adventure that respects the roots and spirit of the original film stories, but reimagines them for the modern gaming era.
