An Easy Girl (literal translation: Easy girl; orig. title: An easy girl) is a 2019 French drama comedy film directed by Rebecca Zlotowski from a screenplay by Teddy-Lucy Modeste and Rebecca Zlotowski. The film premiered in France on August 28, 2019.

An Easy Girl is a finely written French drama that explores themes of temptation, freedom, social differences, and identity formation with ease and elegance. The film arrives as a fresh, sunny slice of the Riviera, but beneath its surface lie deeper ideas about who we are and who we want to be as we approach adulthood.

Director Rebecca Zlotowski creates a story that at first glance seems light-hearted, but in reality works as an intelligent satirical magnifying glass on the world of wealth, privilege, and seduction.

The main character is sixteen-year-old Naima (Mina Farid) is a modest and intelligent girl who grows up in Cannes, far from the glamour of the wealthy resort, although she lives in its shadow. Her summer vacation changes when her cousin Sofia (Zahia Dehar) — mature for her age, freedom-loving, and completely comfortable with her own charm and attention from men.

The two find themselves in a world of yachts, expensive restaurants, impulsive decisions, and wealthy strangers who seem to live without boundaries. Naima, who has played by the rules until now, observes Sofia's life - a life full of freedom, risk, and doubt - and gradually begins to rethink her own ideas about morality, power, and femininity.

The story offers no major twists, but rather an intimate, delicate exploration of how a young man navigates a storm of opportunities, desires, and dangers.

Mina Farid gives a brilliant debut performance—quiet, observant, and very authentic. She carries the film with her naturalness and inner drama. Zahia Dehar is surprisingly convincing and charismatic. Her role is provocative but never vulgar; she is created as an image of female independence, but also as a warning. The supporting cast Nuno Lopez and Benoit Magimel add further nuances—the wealthy men who dominate the French Riviera are shown to be both attractive and predatory.

Rebecca Zlotowski directs the film with a lightness that underscores its messages. The camera often stays close to Naima — as if the world is unfolding through her eyes. Cannes is shown as a place both magical and dangerous — the perfect backdrop for a story of temptation and self-discovery. The film is short but well-paced, with no unnecessary scenes.

The soundtrack is minimalist but meticulously selected — both modern French motifs and calm, summer melodies that emphasize the contrast between the glamour of the Riviera and Naima's inner doubts.

An Easy Girl is a mature, elegant, and beautifully shot coming-of-age drama that manages to be both summery and profound. The film doesn't aim to shock—it aims to show that the path to one's own identity sometimes goes through people who take us out of our comfort zone.
