The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) is a 2022 American adventure fantasy film series created by Patrick McKay and John D. Payne based on the stories of J. R. R. Tolkien. The premiere of the film on the movie platform Amazon Prime Video on September 2, 2022.
This epic adventure takes place a thousand years before the events of "„Hobbit“" and "„The Lord of the Rings„", and will take viewers to an era where great powers were forged, kingdoms rose in glory and fell to ruin, heroes were put to the test, hope hung in the balance, and the greatest villain ever described by Tolkien's pen threatened to cover the world in darkness.
Beginning in a time of near-peace, the film series follows familiar and new characters as they confront a long-threatened evil resurfacing in Middle-earth. From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic forest of the elven Lindon to the wondrous island kingdom of Númenor and to the farthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will leave legacies that will live on long after the times in which they lived.
