The Librarians: The next chapter is a 2025 American fantasy film series created by Dean Devlin and John Rogers. The film is set to premiere on movie platforms on May 25, 2025.
The Librarians: The Next Chapter is a direct spinoff of the well-known film series and TV series The Librarians, launching with 12 episodes and already having a confirmed second week.
The story begins with Vikram Chamberlain (Callum McGowan), a librarian from 1847 who is magically transported to modern-day Belgrade. He finds his old castle turned into a museum, where he inadvertently unleashes forbidden magic that threatens all of continental Europe. Joining him on this new adventure are the scholar Lisa Pascal (Olivia Morris), conspiracy historian Connor Green (Bluey Robinson) and keeper Charlie Cornwall (Jessica Green)
The series maintains a well-balanced adventure that combines light humor, mystery, and fantasy – a signature atmosphere of the series. The script includes a variety of episodes – from fun mysteries to classic wonders, reminiscent of Agatha Christie encounters, ballet melodramas, and even vampire first encounters.
Callum McGowan brings charisma and a slight charm to the "fish out of time," while the new crew displays high energy and fun synergy. The chemistry is particularly strong between Vikram, Lisa, and Connor, as they learn to help each other and overcome magical challenges. Christian Kane's guest appearance as Jacob Stone adds a nostalgic touch without detracting from the new group dynamic.
The Next Chapter plays with the familiar notes that fans love, but combines them with a fresh wave – dynamics, ideas, discoveries and new characters. This is not just a loose spin-off, but a promise of more – especially with the upcoming seasons. For fans of magical adventures with a dose of lightness – a strong evening recommendation.
