One Piece is a 2023 American-British-Japanese adventure fantasy action film series created by Matt Owens and Stephen Maeda. The film premiered on the Netflix movie platform on August 31, 2023.
The film is an epic pirate odyssey that brings together a colorful group of heroes, the Straw Hats, led by the fearless dreamer Luffy, in pursuit of the legendary treasure One Piece. The story skillfully balances adventure, humor, and human relationships, creating an antidote to traditional fantasy blockbusters.
The action begins with Luffy, played by Mexican Iñaki Godoy — a fresh, energetic and infectiously optimistic character who inspires the Straw Hats„ ship. The cast includes: Machenyu as Zoro, Emily Rudd as the titular Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as the head chef Sanji. The acting brings a dose of humanity and character, with all the characters shining with their charisma against a backdrop of visually lush environments.
The scenes are filled with picturesque shots, from ship life to rich and detailed atmospheres for cities and islands. And the music and humor are a blend of Western style and Japanese emotional temperament.
