Night Sky is a 2022 American adventure fantasy film series created by Holden Miller. The film premiered on the Amazon Prime Video movie platform on May 20, 2022.
The series follows an elderly couple who discover a secret chamber in their backyard - a portal to a peaceful but alien world. The mystery upends their sense of routine tranquility and draws them into a global intrigue involving cult groups and emotional loss.
Sissy Spacek and J.K. Simmons play the lead roles with depth and warmth – their performances have often been described as vivid and engaging. The pace is slow and chamber-like, allowing for a more intimate connection with the main characters, but it sometimes feels "drag-and-drop".
The setting—a quiet Midwestern setting with unusual seething desert vistas—helps create a sense of calm yet tense storytelling. The clean sci-fi approach emphasizes human relationships over technological spectacle.
„Night Sky“" (2022) is a unique attempt at combining chamber drama and science fiction. The two deserving actors manage to hold attention even when the plot slows down. For viewers looking for a calm but mysterious experience rather than a high-octane spectacle, this series is worth it – especially if you're willing to accept that the mystery may remain incompletely unraveled...
