Call Sol (Better Call Saul) is a 2015 American crime drama television series created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. The film premiered on AMC on February 8, 2015.
„Call Sol“" serves as a prequel to the cult "„In Satan's shoes“". Airing between 2015 and 2022 on AMC, the series follows the transformation of likable but unsuccessful lawyer Jimmy McGill into the unscrupulous lawyer Saul Goodman - the man who would become Walter White's legal support.
Instead of trying to surpass the original, "„Call Sol“" builds a world of its own - intelligent, morally complex and deeply human. It's a series about identity, compromise and the price of ambition.
The story begins six years before the events in "„In Satan's shoes“". Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) is a small-time lawyer with big dreams who is trying to earn the respect of his brother, Chuck McGill (Michael McKean), a brilliant but mentally unstable lawyer who suffers from an allergy to electricity.
Gradually, we see how Jimmy, despite his good intentions, begins to use lies and manipulation to survive. Against the backdrop of this personal drama, the underworld of Albuquerque also develops, where the fates of Gus Fring, Mike Ehrmantraut and Lalo Salamanca intersect - figures who will shape his moral decline.
At the same time, his love affair with Kim Wexler, an intelligent and ambitious lawyer who hesitantly crosses the line between law and fraud, develops. The final seasons show the disintegration of everything human in Jimmy - until all that remains is Saul Goodman - the lawyer who sells morality for a fee.
„Call Sol“" is one of the best television dramas of the 21st century. It not only complements "„In Satan's shoes“", and builds on his philosophy, turning moral decline into an emotional journey towards humanity. This is a series about the compromises we make to be liked, the lies we call "necessary," and the price that always comes.
The ending – quiet, painful and deeply human – shows that even when all is lost, truth can be a form of redemption.
