VisionQuest (2026 – )

Rights holder / Distributor: Marvel Studios

VisionQuest is a 2026 American science fiction superhero drama television series created by Terry Matalas based on the Marvel comics. It premieres in the US on October 14, 2026 on Disney+.

The story continues Vision's fate after the events of WandaVision. The rebooted Vision is on the run from those who want to weaponize him, and tries to understand what is left of his personality and humanity. To find answers, he turns to the various artificial intelligences embedded in his program, including JARVIS, FRIDAY, EDITH, and Ultron. His peaceful life ends when a bounty is placed on his head and he finds himself forced to go on the run with the mysterious Thomas Shepard - a boy who may have an unusual connection to him.

This puts VisionQuest in a more interesting position than the usual continuation of a superhero story. Vision is no longer just trying to understand the world around him, but himself - what it means to be a being with artificial intelligence, memories, emotions and a will of his own. The presence of Ultron adds another layer to this theme, because there has been a direct connection between the two since Avengers: Age of Ultron. At the same time, Thomas Shepherd brings the family line back to history. WandaVision и Agatha All Along, making Vision's new adventure part of the larger story of Westview.

Behind the series stands Terry Matalas, known for his work on Star Trek: Picard, and the directing duties are divided between Christopher J. Byrne, Ganja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali and himself Terry Matalas. This combination suggests a more diverse visual approach, especially with the presence of Natalie, director of Cube, Splice and episodes from Star Trek: Discovery. The series is an eight-episode production and is officially presented as the third and final part of the trilogy that began with WandaVision and continued with Agatha All Along.

It's in the center again Paul Bettany, who has played Vision since his first appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The return of James Spader as Ultron is one of the most interesting decisions in the series, as the character hasn't been seen in the MCU's live-action history since Avengers: Age of Ultron. Other actors include: Ruerid Molika, Todd Stashwick, T'Nia Miller, Lauren Morais, Orla Brady, Diane Morgan, Polly Frame, Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, Emily Hampshire и James D'Arcy.

The most curious thing in VisionQuest is that the series has the opportunity to conclude one of the most unique storylines in Marvel's recent years. Vision's story began as part of Avengers, received an unusual sequel in WandaVision, and then expanded through Agatha All Along. Now the focus is back on him, but with Ultron, Thomas Shepard, and the various AIs surrounding him. For Marvel fans, that's reason enough for the series to be one of the more important titles in the MCU television lineup in 2026.

VisionQuest has the potential to be a more intimate and unusual superhero story, rather than just another big-screen adventure with ever-increasing stakes. The questions of memory, identity, and the boundary between artificial intelligence and human consciousness give the production the opportunity to develop Vision in a way that the films haven't had time to explore. If the series can fully exploit this idea, it could prove to be a meaningful conclusion to the Westworld trilogy, rather than just another stop in the vast MCU universe.
