„"3.0 Kilograms of Happiness" is released in theaters on January 30th.
„3.0 kilograms of happiness“" is the new full-length film by Zornitsa Sofia Popgancheva, which will make its first appearance in theaters on Friday, the 30th.
The project draws inspiration from real-life stories and logically builds on the thematic line started with the film "„Mother“" (2022), but this time presented through the prism of the dramedy genre - a combination of emotional depth and delicate humor. The film raises a number of contemporary questions related to alternative models of parenting, the freedom of personal choice and the thin line between expectations and true happiness.
At the center of the story is a woman faced with one of the most fateful decisions of her life – whether to become a mother. The film follows her inner struggle between social pressures, biological realities, the pursuit of personal fulfillment and the complex dynamics of partner relationships. The difficult topics are told with empathy, humanity and moments of ironic, even absurd humor.
Daria Simeonova is again in the cast, this time in an atypical role for her as an antagonist. Stefka Yanorova takes on the leading, multi-layered role, and stands next to it Vladimir Zombori and Gerasim Georgiev – Gero. The musical setting is entrusted to Mihail Yosifov, whose music adds additional emotional depth to the story.
„"Alternative parenting, in vitro fertilization practices, and surrogacy are some of the most pressing issues of our time. What excites me is how these choices change human relationships and make us rethink established roles. For me, accepting a different perspective can become a guide into a new emotional territory," says director Zornitsa Sofia.
„3.0 kilograms of happiness“" promises to simultaneously excite and make viewers laugh, as it touches on important life topics that affect each of us with ease, sincerity, and a sense of humor.
The film was produced with the support of the National Film Center Executive Agency.
