„Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother“" is an American crime and action drama that marks the return of director Bassam Tariq after "„Mogul Mowgli“". The film was written and directed by him and produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Orion Pictures. It is scheduled for release on September 25, 2026, with a limited theatrical release in New York and Los Angeles, before gradually being released in more theaters in the United States in October.
Set in Houston, the story follows Latif, a deeply religious hitman who leads a double life. As he struggles to balance his dangerous profession with his faith and his role as a father, the sudden death of his wife turns everything upside down. Forced to protect his children from threats that gradually close in on him, Latif embarks on a desperate journey that will force him to confront both his enemies and his own beliefs. Rather than being a typical crime thriller, the film places a strong emphasis on the character’s internal conflicts and the cost of personal choice.
In the lead role Mahershala Ali makes another impressive dramatic transformation, building a complex image of a man torn between violence and spirituality. Next to him Giancarlo Esposito brings his characteristic screen presence, and John Cho plays one of the key supporting roles. The cast also includes Trammell Tillman, Tiffany Boone, Abubakr Ali, Leith Nackley, Adia and Jahlil Kamara, which form a strong ensemble around the central story.
From the very first footage presented, it is clear that Bassam Tariq is not interested in conventional action. Instead of nonstop gunfights and chases, the film builds tension through atmosphere, moral dilemmas, and psychological conflict. Themes of faith, family, guilt, and redemption are woven into the crime story in a way that promises something deeper than the usual genre film. It is this combination that makes "„Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother“" in one of the most curious titles in the Amazon MGM catalog for 2026.
Although the film has not yet reached the general public, the first reactions after the release of the trailer are encouraging. Most often, the performance of Mahershala Ali, the unusual title and the visual style of Bassam Tariq are distinguished. The expectations are that the production will position itself both as a tense crime thriller and as a serious dramatic work with the potential for festival and award attention.
„Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother“" looks like a film that uses the familiar framework of the crime genre to tell a far more intimate story of loss, faith, and responsibility to family. If it manages to live up to the promise of the first materials, the production has all the prerequisites to become one of the most interesting dramatic titles of 2026.
