The Return (The Revenant) is a 2015 American film directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu based on a screenplay by Mark Smith. The film premieres in the United States on December 25, 2015.
A hunter on a hunting expedition fights for his survival after being attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting party.
The film's plot takes place in 1823 in Montana, where hunter Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is in a hunting party for animal skins led by Capt. Andrew Henry (Donald Gleeson).
Glass is accompanied by his half-Indian son. After an attack on their camp by Arikara Indians, most of the hunters are killed. Glass, his son, and John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy) manage to save themselves.
Not long after, however, Glass is attacked by a bear, which he manages to kill after a long fight, but his wounds are too severe and he has to be carried on a stretcher by his group. However, this slows down the group and he is left, along with his son and several other members of the squad, to wait for a rescue team to be sent.
However, things don't go according to plan...
