Psychologist Dr. James Fonda (Richard Neal) agrees to take part in a mysterious assignment in which he investigates the behavior, thoughts, and reactions of a new patient. Before being put in an interrogation cell, he is thoroughly searched by security guards, then is surprised by the reason for the tight security measures. The scary patient turns out to be a young girl named Ellie (Savannah Liles), which for added security is securely tied to the chair he is sitting on.
Ellie unexpectedly turns the conversation around and it becomes a dissection of Fonda's character. Her way of expressing herself and her analytical skills reveal the genius of her intellect. During the conversation, Ellie makes terrifying confessions that make the doctor believe that she is much more dangerous than she seems. Later, he discovers other abilities in her that he could not have imagined, but despite the fears that overwhelm him, he continues to try to break through her hard facade to reach the frightened child that hides within her.
