One shot (One Shot) is a 2021 British-American crime action thriller film directed by James Nunn from a screenplay by James Nunn. The film is set to be released on movie platforms on 5 November 2021.
„One Shot“" tells the tense story of an elite special forces unit that must transport a dangerous terrorist from a remote naval base. However, the mission turns into a nightmare when the base is attacked by a heavily armed group determined to do anything to free the captive. In the course of one night, the heroes are faced with an impossible choice - to survive or to save the world from impending catastrophe.
Scott Adkins is in his element – compelling, raw and uncompromising as operative Jake Harris. His physical training and realistic fight choreography make every shot a spectacle. Ashley Greene is a strong addition – as an officer trying to balance duty and humanity. Ryan Phillippe adds intellectual and emotional charge with his role as a CIA agent whose decisions lead to dire consequences.
The most notable aspect of the film is James Nunn's direction, which uses a unique approach - he shoots the entire film in one continuous frame (one take). The camera follows the characters without interruption, which creates a sense of real time and immerses the viewer in the heart of the battle.
Filming took place in the United Kingdom, with narrow corridors and enclosed spaces adding to the claustrophobic tension.
The film is breathtaking – from the first to the last frame the action is continuous, dynamic and authentic. The director and the cinematographer combine brutal realism with precise choreography of the fight scenes. The lack of editing jumps enhances the feeling that the viewer is part of the mission.
„One Shot“" is not just action - it raises questions about the cost of war, moral duty and human limits. Amidst the relentless firefights lies a reflection on what compromises we make in the name of security.
„One Shot“" is an explosive and technically constructed thriller that impresses not only with its action but also with its mastery of execution. James Nunn demonstrates innovation, and Scott Adkins solidifies his position as one of the most reliable action actors of his generation.
The film is an ideal choice for fans of high adrenaline, intense fight scenes and uncompromising realism.
