High voltage (Limitless) is a 2011 American fantasy thriller film directed by Neil Burger from a screenplay by Leslie Dixon. The film premiered in Bulgaria on March 25, 2011.
The film is an action-thriller about a writer who takes an experimental drug that allows him to use 100 percent of his consciousness. As he evolves, however, corrupt forces target him to attack him.
Writer Eddie Mora (Bradley Cooper) is rejected by his girlfriend Lindy (Abbie Cornish), confirming his belief that there is no future. All of this disappears when one day an old friend introduces Eddie to NZT - a designer pharmaceutical that makes him more focused and confident than anyone else in the world. Now, in his NZT-fueled odyssey, everything Eddie has ever read, heard or seen is instantly organized and available to him.
The former "nobody" now rises to the top of the financial world, attracting the attention of business magnate Carl Van Loon (Robert De Niro), who sees this enhanced version of Eddie as a tool to make billions. But brutal side effects threaten his meteoric rise. Eddie finds it increasingly difficult to hide the "medicine" that sustains him, and with hitmen on his trail who would eliminate him to get their hands on the NZT, he must stay "hooked" long enough to evade capture and fulfill his destiny.
