I Don't Understand You is a 2024 Italian-American comedy horror film directed by David Joseph-Craig and Brian Crainault from a screenplay by David Joseph-Craig and Brian Crainault. The film is set to be released in the United States on June 6, 2025.
Dom and Cole, a longtime couple from Los Angeles, decide to celebrate their tenth anniversary with a trip to Italy. They are in the process of adopting and are waiting for a call from Candice, a pregnant woman who is considering entrusting them with her child. In Italy, they visit Daniele, an old friend of Dom's father, who is hosting a special dinner at a rustic restaurant in Orvieto that has been closed for months.
On the way to the restaurant, due to unclear directions and a heavy storm, their car gets stuck in the mud in a remote area. They meet a gloomy farmer with a shotgun, who, despite their initial misgivings, helps them reach the restaurant. There they are warmly welcomed by the owner, Zia Luciana. Although the food is excellent, Cole, who is a vegetarian, is forced to try a pizza with horse sausage.
As the evening progresses, the language barrier and cultural differences lead to a series of misunderstandings. What begins as awkward situations gradually escalates into absurd and terrifying events, testing the couple's bond and their determination to become parents.
„"I Don't Understand You" offers a unique perspective on the challenges of cross-cultural communication and the quest for parenthood, presented through a humorous and tense storyline. The film combines funny moments with deep emotional themes, becoming a memorable cinematic experience.
