„High voltage“" tells the story of Anna, a talented chef who gives up her secret and dangerous past. Together with her husband Ray, she opens her own restaurant, dreaming of a peaceful and culinary-inspired life.
But the peace ends when the local mafia decides to burn down their restaurant as part of a larger money laundering scheme. Ana is suddenly forced to return to what she has been trying to forget: her skills as a professional hitman and expert in hand-to-hand combat. What started as a night of official opening for the restaurant quickly turns into a chaotic fight for survival, in which Ana defends not only her life but also the work she has put her heart into.
Olga Kurylenko is convincing as a woman torn between two identities – the sophisticated cook and the ruthless fighter. Don Johnson plays the charismatic, slightly comically ironic husband, who adds humor and warmth. The supporting actors build typical but funny characters from the criminal world – mobsters, small-time gangsters and misfits.
The film mixes pure action energy, bright visual colors, culinary charm and dark humor. Almost the entire film takes place in or around the restaurant, creating a compact, intimate, yet tense atmosphere.
„High voltage“" is a light, fun action film that is enjoyable without claiming depth. Olga Kurylenko and Don Johnson bring the film to life, and the combination of kitchen, mafia, and fight scenes makes it an enjoyable 90-minute entertainment.
