Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past (2026)

„Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past“" is an Indian horror film with elements of romance and a supernatural thriller that continues the story that began with "„Haunted – 3D“" since 2011. Directed by Vikram Bhatt and Manish P. Chavan, and written by Mahesh Bhatt and Suhrita Das. The film is set to be released in India on June 12, 2026, and is also presented in 3D, a trademark of the series.

The story follows Dev, a young man who flees his painful past and seeks solace in a remote mountain estate. Instead of refuge, however, he finds himself in a place shrouded in dark secrets, where the line between present and past gradually begins to disappear. Dev soon discovers that the spirit of a young woman has been captured by a sinister supernatural force for over a century, and the only way to save her is to confront an ancient evil. Without revealing the most important twists, the film intertwines a ghostly love story with mystery and paranormal phenomena, emphasizing themes of sacrifice, guilt, and redemption.

In the lead role Mimo Chakraborty gives one of his strongest performances in recent years, building a convincing image of a man caught in a world where reality and the supernatural constantly collide. Next to him Chetna Pandey plays the role of the mysterious Sunehri, and Manvir Choudhary, Praneet Bhatt, Hemant Pandey, Gaurav Bajpai, Shruti Prakash and Sunil Shakya complement the cast with characters who gradually reveal the story of the cursed mansion.

The director Vikram Bhatt remains true to the style that established it in Indian horror – a mix of supernatural elements, romance and melodrama. The atmosphere is built through gloomy sets, dark corridors, ghostly visions and music that enhances the emotional charge of the story. Although the film relies on modern visual effects and computer processing, it is the love story that remains the emotional core of the plot.

After its premiere, "„Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past“" caused mixed reactions. Some viewers appreciated the idea, music and romantic line, while others criticized the visual effects and the use of AI technologies in some scenes. Vikram Bhatt himself defended the creative decisions of the team, emphasizing that new technologies were used as a tool to realize the supernatural atmosphere, and not as a replacement for traditional cinema. Despite the mixed reviews, the film managed to attract significant interest among fans of Indian horror and continued the tradition of the series to combine ghost stories with emotional romance.

„Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past“" doesn't seek to reinvent the genre, but it offers enough mystery, suspense, and dramatic moments to keep viewers engaged. For fans of Indian supernatural thrillers, this is a worthy sequel to the original film - a production that puts emotion and atmosphere before spectacle and reminds us that the scariest ghosts are often those from our own past.
