Faces of Death (2026)

Faces of Death is a 2026 American horror film directed by Daniel Goldhaber from a screenplay by Daniel Goldhaber and Isa Maczei. The film is set to be released in the United States on April 10, 2026.

„Faces of Death“" is a modern take on one of the most scandalous horror franchises in the history of cinema. The film doesn't just revive the iconic 1978 title, it also transports it into the digital age - a world where the line between truth and manipulation is more blurred than ever.

The story revolves around a young woman who is a content moderator on a movie platform similar to YouTube. Her job is to filter out violent and shocking videos, but her daily life changes when she comes across a strange group that uploads clips that are suspiciously reminiscent of scenes from the original "„Faces of Death“". At first, this seems like another internet hoax – a set-up designed for shock and attention. But with each subsequent video, the doubt grows: are these just reenactments… or something much more real and sinister?

The heroine begins her own investigation, which takes her deeper and deeper into the dark corners of the web. In parallel, the film explores themes such as digital disinformation, addiction to violence as a spectacle, and the psychological cost of being a constant witness to horror. The plot does not rely on classic „jump scare“ moments, but on gradually building tension and moral uncertainty - the viewer, like the heroine, constantly asks what is real.

Daniel Goldhaber uses a modern, almost „Internet-born“ style. Part of the action takes place through screens, interfaces, and digital spaces, which creates a sense of immediacy and realism. The director deliberately avoids completely imitating the original, which is known for mixing real and staged footage. Instead, the new film uses this idea as a conceptual basis to explore the modern culture of content and fake news. Visually, the film alternates sterile, almost clinical shots with more chaotic and disturbing moments that reflect the psychological state of the heroine.

Barbie Ferreira Margo Romero plays the central figure – her performance is restrained, but gradually reveals inner instability and obsession.
Dacre Montgomery builds a strong presence as Arthur Spewak – a character who carries a menace even when he is not the center of the action.
Josie Tota (Samantha) adds a human perspective and emotional counterpoint to the cold world of the internet.
Aaron Holiday and Jermaine Fowler complement the realistic environment, while Charli XCX (in one of his first film roles) brings an interesting energy and a contemporary nuance.
The acting is generally natural and subdued – in keeping with the idea that horror comes not from reenactment, but from the sense of reality.

„Faces of Death“" is not just a remake - it is a commentary on the times we live in. Rather than shocking with direct images, the film poses a more uncomfortable question: why are we so drawn to violence, especially when it is presented as "real"? This is a modern horror that works more on a psychological and conceptual level than through classic genre techniques. For viewers looking for something more intelligent and disturbing, this is one of the more interesting titles of 2026.
