Caddo Lake (2024)

Caddo Lake is a 2024 fantasy thriller film directed by Logan George and Celine Held from a screenplay by Celine Held and Logan George. The film premieres on the HBO Max movie platform on October 10, 2024.

The story follows two parallel lines that gradually intertwine.

Eli (Eliza Scanlon), a rebellious teenager, lives with her mother Celeste, her stepfather Daniel, and her 8-year-old stepsister Anna. After a family conflict, Ellie leaves home, and Anna mysteriously disappears by the lake. In her search for her sister, Ellie discovers that the lake has the ability to transport people back in time, especially when the water level drops. She experiences several time jumps that take her to different periods, including the past, where she meets a young version of her mother and even herself as a baby.

Paris (Dylan O'Brien), a young man, is traumatized by the death of his mother, who dies in a car accident after she faints and their car falls into a lake. While working to clean up the lake, he begins to notice strange phenomena, including hearing loss and the discovery of a necklace that belonged to his mother. These events lead him to the discovery of a time portal in the lake, which transports him to 1952, where he rescues an injured Anna.

The plot culminates when Paris realizes that the girl he saved is his own mother, and Ellie realizes that Anna is her grandmother. These revelations lead to an understanding of the complex family ties and temporal paradoxes that bind the characters. The film ends with an emotional reconciliation between Ellie and her mother as they realize the truth about their family and their experiences.
