Brunch for Beginners (2026)
Brunch for beginners (English title: Brunch for beginners) is a 2026 Bulgarian comedy film directed by Yana Titova from a screenplay by Yana Titova and Viktoria Radoslavova. The film premiered in Bulgaria on February 13, 2026.
The film follows young entrepreneurs Krum and Jana — creators of the „intelligent“ smartwatch JANNI — who find themselves on the brink of bankruptcy. To save their business and their image, they organize a glamorous brunch with a single investor on a mission to obtain funding. However, the plan unravels when the eccentric Rosena and her strange family intervene in their lives; a series of absurd situations and culinary failures alternate, and the question „is there a recipe for happiness“ becomes the central motif.
Yana Titova approaches the material with a light, comedic touch that combines dynamics and cozy, visually pleasing shots. The focus falls on the social game of image and the desire for a successful start-up; the food and the preparation of the event serve as dramaturgical mechanics — they are both a source of humor and a way to reveal characters. Martin Balkanski gives the film a fresh, viewer-friendly visual language, and Grafa's music maintains the pace and mood.
The theme of "„Brunch for beginners“" has a universal appeal - business startups, fear of failure and public image - familiar motifs that resonate with young audiences. Working with popular Bulgarian actors (Orlin Pavlov, Valentina Karoleva, Alexandra Sarchadzhieva) gives the characters authenticity and comical energy. The film is light, enjoyable, and suitable for a wide audience — perfect for a romantic or friendly movie date.
„Brunch for beginners“" seems like a cute, homegrown comedy with a modern plot about entrepreneurship and image. If you're looking for a light, fresh story with a Bulgarian character and a few genuine laughs, you'll probably like this film. For viewers who prefer deeper dramas, it may seem superficial — but as a genre comedy for a mass audience "„Brunch for beginners“" has all the makings of a pleasant, entertaining cinematic experience.
