Anatomy of a fall (Anatomy of a Fall) is a 2023 French crime thriller film directed by Justine Trier from a screenplay by Justine Trier and Arthur Harari. The film is set to be released in France on 23 August 2023.
Samuel (Samuel Theis) was found dead with a head injury in the snow outside the isolated cabin where he lived with his wife Sandra Voyter (Sandra Hueller) – a German writer and their 11-year-old son Daniel, who is visually impaired. The investigation leads to the conclusion of a „suspicious death“ – it is impossible to know for sure whether he took his own life or was murdered. The case arouses strong public interest because both spouses are famous writers.
Sandra is a suspect, and the trial tears their relationship apart and exposes it to the public. Daniel (Milo Machado Graner) finds himself caught between the trial and their home life, and doubts take their toll on the mother-son relationship. His testimony strongly influences the jury's final decision.
